TOKYO -- The Five Eyes intelligence-sharing framework on Wednesday will hold its first meeting in nonmember country Japan, which is becoming a critical site for gathering information on nearby China.

The decision to hold this week's meeting in Japan, which is not an official member, reflects its growing importance as an intelligence-collecting base in the Indo-Pacific region.
