PARIS -- Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and French President Emmanuel Macron agreed Thursday to begin negotiations to facilitate visits between the Japan Self-Defense Forces and the French military.

The reciprocal access agreement would pave the way for more exercises and training between the forces. France is the fourth country with which Japan is pursuing one of these agreements.
