TOKYO -- The U.K.'s deputy prime minister has welcomed Japan's decision to ease its defense export regulations, facilitating sales of next-generation fighter aircraft co-developed with the U.K. and Italy to third-party countries.
Tokyo's move resolves a key hurdle for the trinational Global Combat Aircraft Programme (GCAP), slated to begin mass production in 2031.
