TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida faces a political crossroads in April with a scheduled state visit to the U.S. and a Bank of Japan monetary policy meeting as he grapples with restoring public trust amid a fundraising scandal in his party.
Kishida was inaugurated two years and four months ago. In a policy speech Tuesday, he positioned 2024 as "the year in which we will give shape to the achievements we have made so far and help citizens enjoy the fruits of those achievements."
