BEIJING (Kyodo) -- China's top prosecutors said Saturday that a former justice minister has been indicted on bribery charges, with President Xi Jinping's leadership pledging to intensify its crackdown on corruption.

Tang Yijun's prosecution suggests that Xi is aiming to tighten his anti-corruption campaign by demonstrating that even high-ranking officials he has personally appointed are not exempt in a bid to reinforce his power base, observers said.
