NEW DELHI -- With Indian national elections just months away, a senior leader of the opposition Congress party, Rahul Gandhi, is kicking off a 6,700-kilometer "Unite India" march on Sunday in a last-ditch bid to revive the once-powerful organization's flagging fortunes and challenge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The two-month journey by Gandhi, grandson of the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, starts in strife-torn Manipur state in the northeast and will wind its way toward the commercial capital of Mumbai, its final destination.
