JAKARTA -- Sri Mulyani Indrawati will confront some of her most difficult challenges yet as she remains Indonesia's finance minister, called upon to increase tax revenue and fund President Prabowo Subianto's costly programs as Southeast Asia's largest economy embarks on a new political era.
The respected technocrat, who has no political affiliation and is the first Indonesian to hold the role under three presidents, said on Oct. 14 that she had been asked to stay in the post. Her reappointment was confirmed on Sunday evening when Prabowo announced his cabinet.
