JAKARTA -- Indonesian Communications Minister Rudiantara refuses to bow to demands from the transportation authorities and taxi companies to ban popular taxi-hailing apps Grab and Uber.

The minister on Tuesday said "technology [and smartphone] applications are neutral," adding that the government is committed to supporting the growth of the country's digital economy by supporting e-commerce and other technology-based business innovation.
