JAKARTA -- Top officials of the body overseeing the construction of Indonesia's planned new capital have resigned recently, revealing challenges in outgoing President Joko Widodo's signature project just two months ahead of the official relocation.

In August, the Indonesian government will shift some of its functions from Jakarta to Nusantara, a new city being built on the island of Borneo. Jokowi, as the president is usually called, had planned to hold Indonesia's Aug. 17 Independence Day celebration in the new capital city, just before his term ends in October.
