SAN FRANCISCO -- An important takeaway from this week's meeting between U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping was that the Chinese leader told the American side that Beijing does not have plans for a massive invasion of Taiwan.

According to a senior U.S. official, Xi said he had heard reports from the U.S. that China is planning military action against Taiwan in 2027 or 2035, but that there was no such plan.
