JAKARTA -- Members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations gathered in the Indonesian capital this week, along with representatives from China, Japan and South Korea as well as the U.S., Australia and New Zealand.

The meetings offered a chance for the diverse bloc to discuss shared economic and security concerns, while also showcasing how the Indo-Pacific region can approach major questions such as how to handle U.S.-China competition and the war in Ukraine.
