Abe, Pence to confer on North Korea

Tokyo wants more coordinated pressure in response to threat

TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will discuss plans for further cooperation on North Korea with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence here Tuesday, including stronger pressure on the rogue state should it conduct another nuclear or missile test.

The two officials will meet on the sidelines of a Japan-U.S. economic dialogue, and they also are expected to touch on the recent U.S. missile strikes in Syria.
