MELBOURNE -- ASEAN leaders and Australia pledged to boost cooperation on tackling transnational crime on Wednesday, with an expert on the issue saying more needed to be done to combat cyberscams in the region.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese hosted leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations at a three-day conference in Melbourne. Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos, in particular, have seen a rapid rise in the presence of cyberscam compounds in recent years.
