Australia and Vietnam solidify ties with Albanese visit

Leaders look forward to upgrading bilateral relationship 'as soon as possible'

HANOI -- Australia and Vietnam have reaffirmed their ties with a face-to-face summit as they pursue an upgrade to their relationship.

Anthony Albanese on Sunday became the first Australian prime minister to make an official visit to Vietnam in nearly four years. This was his first trip to the Southeast Asian country as prime minister since taking office in May 2022.
