SYDNEY -- Australia will spend $190 million Australian dollars ($118 million) to train and expand the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, its latest move to deepen partnerships in the Pacific in the face of Beijing's efforts to boost its regional influence.
Announcing the deal on Friday, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the support made sure Australia remained the Solomon Islands' "security partner of choice."
