HO CHI MINH CITY -- U.S. President Joe Biden's trip to Vietnam is expected to yield a diplomatic upgrade, talks on climate, trade and human rights -- and potential backlash from next-door China.

Though he skipped the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summits in Jakarta days earlier, Biden will visit one of the bloc's 10 member states after attending the Group of 20 summit in India.
