SYDNEY -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi lauded diplomatic achievements with Papua New Guinea on his visit to the country Saturday, part of Beijing's initiative to strengthen ties with the Pacific Island nations.

China supports Papua New Guinea's common development "without any geopolitical selfish interests," Wang said during a joint news conference with his Papua New Guinea counterpart Justin Tkatchenko.
