BRUSSELS -- The European Union and Japan will launch a new framework of security cooperation and jointly tackle maritime and cyber security issues in East Asia, Nikkei has learned, according to a draft of the joint summit statement, which will be finalized next week.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will visit Brussels next Thursday and will meet European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel before the joint statement is finalized.
