NEW YORK/TOKYO -- Technology has replaced journalists as gatekeepers of information, leading to the proliferation of misinformation online like "an invisible atom bomb" exploding, Maria Ressa, a winner of this year's Nobel Peace Prize, said on Wednesday.

Ressa, CEO of Philippine news site Rappler, spoke during discussions on press freedom held ahead of this week's virtual Summit for Democracy.
