India, China to expedite resumption of direct flights suspended since 2020

Announcement comes after high-level meeting between neighbors in New Delhi

NEW DELHI -- India and China have agreed to "expedite steps" for resuming direct air service between the two countries, which was suspended over five years ago, the Indian foreign ministry said on Friday.

The announcement came after a meeting on Thursday between India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, who is on a two-day visit to the South Asian nation until Friday.
