DUBAI/NEW DELHI -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a trip to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, seeking to increase economic cooperation and bolster ties in the Middle East as China expands its influence there.
Modi met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. This was Modi's seventh trip to the UAE since taking office in 2014, and his third in eight months.
