NEW YORK/TOKYO -- U.S. President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida agreed to establish an economic "two-plus-two" framework to deepen cooperation on supply chains and tech development along with discussing in detail the allies' response to China in their first full-fledged summit Friday.

During the 80-minute virtual meeting, Kishida invited Biden to visit Japan in the first half of this year, with plans to hold a summit with the other leaders of the Quad alongside the trip. The security framework consists of the U.S., Japan, India and Australia.
