Former head of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, retired Adm. Philip Davidson will visit Taiwan as a private citizen. 

TOKYO -- The former commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, retired Adm. Philip Davidson, will visit Taiwan next week, Nikkei Asia has learned.

The retired four-star admiral will visit as a private citizen. Sources said he will fly from Japan, where he is currently staying, and land in Taiwan on Monday. He is expected to meet with President Tsai Ing-wen and other leaders.
