WASHINGTON -- The U.S. wants to postpone Indo-Pacific Economic Framework talks on high-standard digital rules, Nikkei has learned, on concerns that Congress will criticize them for benefiting giant tech companies.
Ministers from the 14 IPEF nations gather Oct. 13 for a two-day meeting in San Francisco. But as of Tuesday, Washington has told other members that it intends to put off discussions on standards governing digital trade.
