TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and U.S. President Donald Trump will issue a joint statement after their summit Friday laying out shared views on the economy, security and China, Nikkei has learned.
Language being discussed would call for building a "golden age" of bilateral relations. The statement will emphasize realizing a free and open Indo-Pacific and bringing the Japan-U.S. alliance to "new heights."
