Japan and ASEAN can jointly tackle decarbonization, says think tank chief

Partners complement each other technologically and demographically, ERIA head says

TOKYO -- As Japan and ASEAN prepare for a special December summit to mark 50 years of friendship, the head of a leading regional think tank hopes to see the two sides jointly tackle key challenges as true partners.

"I want them to send message that they are shaping the future together on issues like decarbonization and digital technology," Tetsuya Watanabe told Nikkei in an interview.
