JAKARTA -- Japanese Emperor Naruhito's visit to the Indonesian city of Yogyakarta has brought renewed attention to a little known royal succession issue.

The emperor and Empress Masako wound up a seven-day visit to the world's fourth-most populous country on Friday, their first official trip since Naruhito took the throne in 2019, apart from attending the funeral of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II.
