Ambassador Octavio Cortes, Brazil's envoy to Japan, spoke with the Nikkei about his country's hopes for an economic partnership agreement with Japan.

TOKYO -- Brazil has urged Japan to promptly start negotiations with the Southern Common Market, commonly known as Mercosur, to conclude an economic partnership agreement (EPA), to expand the two countries' economic ties.

"It's time for the Japanese authorities to show to us they are willing to start this dialogue," Brazilian Ambassador to Japan Octavio Cortes said in a recent interview with Nikkei.
