TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba will meet with leaders from China and South Korea on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in Laos this week, seeking to promote stable relations with the neighbors amid a list of security challenges.
Ishiba will visit Laos from Thursday to Saturday in his first overseas trip since becoming prime minister. Other attendees of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit include Australia, India and the U.S., with Secretary of State Antony Blinken appearing in place of President Joe Biden.
