BEIJING -- Natsuo Yamaguchi, head of Japan's junior ruling coalition partner Komeito, returned home Thursday from a two-day trip to Beijing, where he affirmed the importance of bilateral exchanges with members of China's top leadership.
But Yamaguchi failed to achieve his biggest goal -- a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping -- highlighting the challenges that continue to plague relations between Tokyo and Beijing.
