TOKYO -- The Japanese government will soon shift the focus of foreign aid toward advanced technology, such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing, and away from infrastructure development.
An expert panel will submit a recommendation to revise the official development assistance (ODA) program to Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa on Thursday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will incorporate the provisions in its fiscal 2025 budget request due out this summer.
