TOKYO -- The Japanese government plans to soon open up a path for providing guarantees to businesses that invest or lend in African countries, Nikkei has learned.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will be able to grant guarantees for Africa-bound investment and financing under legislation to be submitted to the Diet session that starts Friday. The idea is to lower the risk of doing business on the continent.
