Moon asks Xi to attend Pyeongchang Olympics' closing ceremony

Leaders also discuss recent meeting between the Koreas

SEOUL -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Thursday urged Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend the closing ceremony of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics next month.

The two leaders spoke over the phone for about half an hour. Xi said the countries should work closely to ensure the baton is passed smoothly to Beijing, the host of the next Winter Games, but did not say whether he will visit the South.
