BANGKOK -- The World Health Organization's accountability and transparency will be at stake when a closed-door session to elect a new director for its South-East Asia Regional Office begins this coming week, said one of the two candidates in the unusually contentious race.

The office oversees 11 countries including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
