SEOUL -- The new Chinese ambassador has arrived in North Korea as the two longtime allies look to bolster their ties to counter growing security cooperation between the U.S., Japan and South Korea.

North Korea's borders have been closed since March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but authorities seem to have made an exception in allowing Ambassador Wang Yajun to enter in late March, highlighting the close relationship between Pyongyang and Beijing.
