NEW YORK -- New York City and Tokyo will strengthen business and economic ties under an agreement inked Friday, including by helping startups in each city expand into the other.

"This marks a really exciting step forward in the NYC-Tokyo relationship," said Andrew Kimball, president and CEO of the New York City Economic Development Corp., at a signing event for a memorandum of understanding that covers three areas: data and information sharing, business expansion support, and communication and knowledge exchange.
