Philippines' Marcos to visit Japan in February

Economic ties and security on agenda as countries strengthen partnership

MANILA -- Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will make a state visit to Japan in February, looking to solidify economic and security ties with the partner country.

The visit, announced by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, will be Marcos' first to Japan since he took office on June 30. The two countries will likely discuss strengthening defense cooperation, while Marcos may also try to attract investment. The exact date of the visit has not been announced.
