JAKARTA -- Indonesia's recent repatriations of Philippine and Australian drug convicts on death row or serving life sentences highlight President Prabowo Subianto's attempts to boost his global image, but experts are questioning his commitment to human rights at home.

Mary Jane Veloso arrived in Manila on Wednesday, to the cheers and tears of her family and supporters, after she had spent 14 years behind bars in Indonesia. This was after her arrest at an Indonesian airport in 2010 for smuggling 2 kilograms of heroin, for which she was sentenced to death a year later and was almost executed in 2015.
