MANILA -- The Philippines on Monday called on China to stop aggressive acts in the South China Sea following a maritime collision the previous day in disputed waters.

Philippine officials held a news conference on Monday morning to address an incident the previous day, when a China Coast Guard vessel carried out "dangerous blocking maneuvers" that "caused it to collide" with a Philippine military-contracted boat, according to the Philippines' task force on the South China Sea.
