Sri Lanka to shut German consulate to save on foreign reserves

Overseas missions in Nigeria and Cyprus also on temporary chopping block

NEW YORK -- Sri Lanka will temporarily close three overseas missions from Friday in a bid to cut spending and conserve its foreign reserves.

The missions on the chopping block are the High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria; the Consulate General in Frankfurt, Germany; and the Consulate General in Nicosia, Cyprus.
