TAIPEI -- Taiwan's top diplomat is making his first visit to Lithuania this week in an apparent attempt to shore up ties with Vilnius as China seeks to drive a wedge between them.

Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung is leading a delegation of drone manufacturers to the Eastern European country on a weeklong visit through Sunday. The closely watched trip comes as a new government in Vilnius shows a desire to draw closer to Beijing, which has bristled at warm unofficial relations between Taiwan and Lithuania.
