WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he intends to hold his second summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sometime after the U.S. midterm elections on Nov. 6.

Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that he would be too busy campaigning for Republican candidates to leave for the summit before the elections.

Earlier the same day, Trump met with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the White House for a briefing on Pompeo's recent meeting with Kim in North Korea.

Pompeo later told reporters, "While there's still a long way to go and much work to do, we can now see a path where we will achieve [our] ultimate goal, which is the full and final verified denuclearization of North Korea."

Trump told the press at the White House that he had narrowed down the possible summit venues to three or four locations, excluding Singapore, where the first meeting was held in June.
