LONDON -- British finance minister Rachel Reeves' trip to China this weekend is part of the new Labour government's push for reengagement with Beijing, but it comes at a delicate time after fresh allegations of Chinese espionage within the royal family surfaced last month.

Reeves will meet with Vice Premier He Lifeng in Beijing, the third high-level bilateral meeting since the Labour Party came into power in July, highlighting the government's emphasis on shoring up ties with the world's second-largest economy. The central bank governor and the head of Britain's financial regulator will accompany Reeves, whose formal title is chancellor of the exchequer.
