U.S. announces diplomatic boycott of Beijing Olympics

New Zealand won't send representatives; Japan, Australia yet to decide

NEW YORK -- The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden said Monday that it would not send any officials to the Beijing Olympics next February.

The diplomatic boycott is to protest China's "ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity in Xinjiang and other human rights abuses," White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters.
