NEW YORK -- More automotive and aerospace shipments to the U.S. are under scrutiny as officials step up efforts to block imports believed to have been made with Uyghur forced labor, data from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection shows.

More than 6,000 shipments worth $1.78 billion were held up for inspection by the CBP last year, up 45% from the year before.
