SHANGHAI -- Chinese stocks fell on Wednesday morning after U.S. President Donald Trump said he is considering imposing a 10% tariff on goods imported from China on Feb. 1.
The CSI 300 Index, a benchmark for blue-chip stocks traded on mainland exchanges, dropped more than 1% during the day before closing down 0.9%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index declined 1.6% after rising for six straight trading days.
