TOKYO -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan met in Beijing on Tuesday, China's state broadcaster CCTV reported, as the rival powers maintain their "strategic channel of communication" to stabilize ties amid growing tensions.

Sullivan's three-day visit comes on the heels of Washington's latest sanctions against Chinese companies for allegedly aiding Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine. Beijing blasted the sanctions as "wrong practices."
