CHICAGO -- U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan visits Beijing next week to meet top Chinese diplomat Wang Yi, the first trip to China by a U.S. national security adviser since 2016, part of efforts to stabilize relations between the two superpowers.
Sullivan's visit will be part of a "strategic channel of communication" established in a summit between U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping in California last November, intended to manage competition and tensions responsibly, a senior American administration official told reporters Friday.
