SHANGHAI/HONG KONG -- U.S. companies' confidence in China has hit a record low on the back of worsening bilateral ties and worries over slowing economic growth in the world's second-largest economy, according to a new survey released on Thursday.

The 2024 China Business Report, published by the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, showed only 13% of respondents ranked China as their No. 1 investment destination. The figure was down 4 percentage points from last year's poll and the lowest in the survey's history.
