From his support for Brexit to his admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's pronouncements on foreign policy seem to herald a departure from the course of American diplomacy so far.

They have caused consternation among U.S. allies and hope for dialogue in ostracized nations, and with his inauguration upon us, many are still trying to figure out where Trump's true intentions lie.
